We ran into this hidden gem by mistake when looking for parking. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our waiter provided excellent customer service and was very attentive to our wants and likes. Our dishes were delicious and well served.

Great place for local ambience and food. No reservations, but popular with the local crowd Good food and enough choices. I also like the beer on draft selection.

Perfect little French restaurant in the heart of Hayes Valley. The food was superb and the service, even better. The French woman who sat us and took our order was charming and personable throughout our meal and as we waited. The wine was affordable and the dishes were delicious. I will be back!

Chez Maman seemed interesting, but I wasn't impressed by the food. I had the crepe with salmon and it wasn't that good. The crepe was brown. I like the menu that has variety and a mix of semi-expensive and more expensive things. It's fun to try and see if you like it. The atmosphere is not that high-end. It's touristy and quick to spend time it. It's not to loaf and have a great dinner. It's not what you might expect just because it's got "Chez" in its name. It's not even really authentically French completely. The service is good and it's comfortable, but not a very big restaurant. If I could SELL PEOPLE HAYES VALLEY SAN FRANCISCO ON THE INTERNET...WELL THEN I WOULD!

Cute, cozy bistro with superb, friendly service. Great renditions of traditional French dishes like onion soup, mussels, escargot along with American classics like burgers.The waitstaff clearly cares about food; I overheard a waiter talk another patron out of getting a well done steak and thought that was awesome.We brought our 1 year old and they were very accommodating not only with the food but also stashed our stroller out of the way.Great place, strong recommendation.

Delicious culinary journey through France. We had the savory Camembert appetizer, duck confit & impossible burger as mains and creme brulee for dessert. All the four dishes were exceedingly good and flavorful! Highly recommend the restaurant for a cosy meal :)

Fantastic little bistro. You cannot make reservations so best to show up for a later afternoon, early dinner. We typically go around 5 pm and grab one of the seats at the bar. The mussels are to die for but I also strongly recommend the pasta! Honestly try anything off their menu - it is all super delicious!

Came here for an early meal. Had fries and French onion soup. It was delicious. Menu has a wide variety of crepes, paninis and other main courses. Good selection of wine.

The food was good and so was the service.A waiter started spraying a large amount of cleaning spray near my fiance's food, so I politely asked for the bill, promptly paid it, and we left without any comment or fuss.On our way out after paying the bill, a waitress flagged me down and said "did you like our service?". I responded "yes", and then she said "if you like our service you should tip us" and looked at me incredulously as if the tip was required.

Onion soup is overpowering, but maybe it's not for me. Ordered after hearing recommendations and seeing everyone eating one. Duck confit was pretty good. Veal marsala was very good. Pork chop was delicious. I also like their white wine mussels with side of fries or bread.Great service. Expect to wait for small space. Bathroom is steamy but decent.

Perfect food. We love this place. My boyfriend is French and he says it's makes him feel like he's home. Service is great as well!Two things worth mentioning:I personally feel the desserts are too sweet, and the Chocolate Fondant was not hot enough.

Great staff gets the first star! great appetizer gets the second star (no pic as we were too hungry and had two baskets of bread...) French onion soup is delicious the third star!!! omelette is great so 0.8 Star plus the perfect crepe which fill up the rest 1.2 Star.

Well this was not our best experience there. We sat at the bar. Our order never got to the kitchen and we had to ask where it was. Our waiter was not paying attention to us to see that our order was taking too long. We got it so late that we had to have them put it into a box. However, we got our wine order topped off by the manager. Our other experiences have been very good there. Our food was very good but would have preferred to have it with the wine we ordered.

If you're looking for quality and value for French cuisine, then look no further in Chez Maman, a favorite amongst San Franciscans. Come here if you're looking for bistro style classics likr Escargots, Steak Frites, and Moule Frites. Most entrees are just around $25.

Great spot for french food. Everyone at our table was quite pleased. Really nothing but great experiences here, so I will be back. I see why this place has a lot of great reviews.

Thoroughly enjoyed the French Onion Soup here! Also enjoyed the Mac n' Cheese (loved the truffle oil in there!) and the Chicken crepes. Prices were super reasonable and my water glass was never empty. Great service and great food!

Came here because my friend and I were craving mussels. We came and got seated immediately. It's a pretty small place, but with a decent amount of tables. We ordered the ceasar salad, mussels, and mushroom fettuccine. The ambience was nice and romantic inside, a cute place for a date!The food came out shortly. The caesar salad was great to share and came with anchovies. The pasta and mussels came soon after and was amazing. We used the free bread to eat with the mussels. The sauce tasted great with it. The mushroom sauce with the pasta was great too. The mussels definitely satisfied our craving and we plan to come back. They have other mussel varieties that we plan to try in the future.

Good food, good portions, acceptable price. The place is nice but small. The reservation is not required, but is always a good idea, to be sure you have a table. Usually, the place is full... Slow down with the salt!😅 Always my veal was way too salty, and I'm not very sensitive... Otherwise, the food is fantastic!👌

Love the salads, crepes, and Apple dessert. I've been to this location a few times, and it never fails to impress me. The service is warm and attentive. Also enjoy sitting outside when the weather is nice out. Only down side is that they don't take reservations, so I would only go when I don't mind waiting for a table (it's totally worth the wait!).

Small cozy French bistro with absolutely delicious food. The mussels is truly the best we have had and be sure to order the fries to go with it. It's the thin and crispy, I literally destroying them! We were so full we ate the salmon crepes the next day and it was still very good. No fishy taste at all.

Heated outdoor seating is awesome, service is great, menu is carefully picked. Veal was good and I loved the white wine based sauce. Duck was melting in my mouth and potatoes gratin were a good addition.

As for the food, the dishes were phenomenal (steak quesadilla and steak taco). The other dishes were good, but I've definitely had better. Next time I come back, I only want to try different variations of their dishes because it was that good! For dessert we ordered the churros and they were amaaazing. It was the best way to end a great dinner; probably my favorite dish of the night.

This is a fantastic neighborhood French bistro that transports you to France. The food is outstanding and the ambiance even better.

They offer an awesome range of fresh food. I like eating here. The employees are always very nice, pricing is reasonable and the spot is always kept clean.

We ordered the French Onion Soup, the escargot, duck, and a salmon crepe. The french onion soup had the right amount of cheese and was very hearty. I wish the escargot had more inside, but it was still very good. The duck was the tastiest, and the crepe was a bit salty but still good. I would recommend this place to my friends.

The sandwich was abysmal. I don't know why I come back every couple years to try it in hopes. Avoid the crepes too. The mussels and fries look good.

Consistently good food, friendly staff, lively. Easier to get seated after 8pm.

They opted to have a meeting versus serving customers. We waited for a bit and then someone came in and asked us to come back later. There are better ways to treat customers, even a simple would you like an ice water or drink while we finish up?

Right around the corner (just a couple blocks) from the New Conservatory Theatre Center, this place will offer a good bite for dinner with great flavor, outdoor seating, and drinks to match.

Last I was there in the summer of 2019, it was hard to get a clean spoon for my soup. It took multiple tries, which was a bit disheartened. However, the burger was very good.

This casual and cozy restaurant made me feel like dining in Paris. Unpretentious but tasty food. Their buckwheat crepes are among the best I have had outside of France. The double shot espresso with their house made vanilla gelato is divine. Will certainly visit again next time in the neighborhood!

This neighborhood corner restaurant is cozy and inviting. Amazingly, the hostess/waitress took our orders by memory. The classic French onion soup was a winner.

I love Chez Maman and have been recommending friends here for years. My favourites are the french onion soup, pork chop and escargots! It has a solid selection of French food and is a casual bistro style restaurant. The service is also really good here, can't rave about it more.

It was absolutely the worst restaurant I have ever been to!!! It took about 1 hour to get food!! Definitely do not recommend it to anyone!! 😡😡

Best French restaurant don’t look any further if you are in the area, 4 times here and quality, price and service were amazing. You might need to wait a little bit since is always full but is worth it. You can go for a walk and see the shops in the area.

We were checking out all the restaurants in the street and when we were passing by this place, a friendly face asked us how we we're and if we have any questions about the menu and answered them. So we decided to check out the place and we're happy that we went in. Food is good. Friendly service. Would go again to try other stuff on the menu. Later got to know that the name translates to "at my mom's".

Oh maman! 😋 Mussels were fabulous. Burgers were drier than typical American style. Desserts were incredible.

Visited after going to the ballet, nice short walk from the Opera House. Friendly staff and good food. We started with souo and shared the steak fries. The Onion soup was delicious. Both soups were fairly large and I only ate half my soup. The steak was a high quality steak cooked medium rare as requested. We enjoyed the bottle of wine and for dessert the creme brulee was delicious.
